I am getting quotes for a LTC policy from a agent that represents Cuna Mutual. She talks like their policy is the best thing since peanut butter and only available to credit union members.

Has anyone had experience with this company or know anything about their history?

I did a google search on the company and didn't really find anything negative or positive.

Thanks for any info.

Mark

Mark, the product the Cuna Mutual representative is showing you may very well be the best thing since peanut butter (although peanut butter's pretty darned good), but you won't know if you don't see what else is out there. Find an agent in your area who specializes in long term care insurance, someone who can show you options from several quality companies like John Hancock, MetLife, Genworth, etc. Only after you understand what your options are will you know if you're choosing the best product for you. Once you've compared plans with the help of an LTC specialist, then you can decide which one makes the most sense.

Kerry's right, sit down with someone that show you a multiple companies not just one. All agents that work with multiple companies no one company is the best for every clients needs and situation.

Thanks for the info kpbdy and Alex. I received some quotes a few months ago from two different agents. These were mostly from Genworth, Alliance, and one form John Hancock. I think those are all good companies, but I was not familiar with Cuna Mutual.

I just received the quotes from the Cuma agent today. Their agent has been trying to tell me that because they are affiliated with my credit union, that I will get a super deal from them. At first glance, they don't appear to be any better than the others. Of course, we are not exact comparing apples to apples since there are some differences in the policies and my wife and I have both had birthdays since then. However, it kind of appears that their policy may not be better than peanut butter. Also, I still have some reservations about that company since I haven't heard that name mentioned before in discussions about LTC insurance.

Thanks again.

Mark

The CUNA Mutual policy is only offered through participating credit unions. No insurance broker can represent their company/policy as you must work for the credit union to offer it.
