Hello! I just wanted to check in and say thanks for all the comments everyone has left on this board - I have learned a lot just be reading replies on various topics.

I'm an independent agent in Texas, and I've been selling insurance for several years, as a "second job". My primary occupation is computer programming, but I have lost all interest in this after coding for 20 years.

I've been selling insurance now for 2 years - primarily life, annuities, and some LTC. I know there is much experience represented by this board for LTC, and was looking for generic tips related to LTCI. I am contracted with many of the companies mentioned on this board - but I've only placed business with a handful of them.

I picked up on such advice as stratecision - sounds like something I should look into for comparison purposes. Any advice from pros is very much appreciated!

Don't try to work with thirty different companies; find a handful of good, quality carriers and learn them inside and out. Stratecision's a good tool, but too many agents base their sale on a spreadsheet, and don't know what they're selling.
